UPCOMING WORKSHOP

The Pilates Connection: Powerhouse, Breath & Anchor

Registration: $150

Saturday, May 10, 2025 - 9:00am - 11:00am

The pilates method teaches us how to build strength and increase flexibility through controlling opposition and resistance—whether we are working with apparatus or creating it within our own bodies. As our breath fuels the movement, the control over our anchors builds strength and flexibility. In this workshop we will explore how to engage a dynamic pilates breath and how our powerhouse can stabilize in various ways to encourage a deeper core connection using the pilates method.

By practicing classical mat exercises such as The Hundred, Overhead Stretch, Saw, Teaser, Spine Stretch Forward, Shoulder Bridge, Jack-Knife, and Tree, participants will deepen their understanding of body awareness and how to harness the power of their inner fire. Pilates is defined as stretch with strength and control—the most important of which is control.

Space is limited to 15 participants. Please contact Kendra for more information and how to register.

Pilates Philosophy.

Pilates, also referred to as Contrology, is a series of precisely executed exercises created to enhance strength, flexibility, stability, and control within ones body. It is an exercise system ideal for all ages and body types as there is something in the practice for everyone. Incorporating a consistent Pilates practice into your routine has the power to increase strength, physique, confidence, awareness, and overall wellness.

The six principles of Pilates as defined by the first generation students of Joseph Pilates are:

Concentration. Control. Center. Precision. Fluidity. Breath.

About Kendra.

I began my personal Pilates journey in 2012 at Body Flow Movement Studio in Lambertville, NJ. After becoming entranced by the system, I was the first student to graduate from the studio’s newly developed Teacher Program in 2014 and am classically certified by Lee Artur. Since then I have received various certifications from world renowned classical studios including The Pilates Studio of Portugal (Authentic Pilates: Inelia Garcia) and The Pilates Studio of Los Angeles. But certifications are only a piece to any dedicated teachers’ puzzle. For me, connecting, collaborating, and practicing with classical master-level teachers from around the world has helped me gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for the genius of Joseph Pilates’ method. I am honored to learn from the incredible second generation of teachers who were taught directly by Joseph Pilates’ students Romana Kryzanowska and Kathleen Stanford Grant. I opened my studio in the summer of 2022 under the mentorship of Master Teacher Zane Rankin and am honored to pass on his legacy. In addition to being a classically trained Pilates instructor, I hold a degree in Dietetic Technology and am a registered nutrition professional with the Commission of Dietetic Registration. I am grateful to share my knowledge and experience each and every day with my students and clients to help them create healthful and balanced lives.
